On 30 March 2017, the Ateneo Law Journal launched its Special Issue entitled “NAVIGATING UNCHARTED WATERS: Moving Forward with the Philippines-China Arbitral Award” at the Justitia Hall, Ateneo Professional Schools.

The Special Issue was unveiled by its Lead Editors, Emmanuel Benito C. Dulay and Isabel Assunta C. Caguioa, together with Dean Sedfrey M. Candelaria and the Authors, Associate Justice Francis H. Jardeleza, Solicitor General Florin T. Hilbay, Undersecretary Manuel A.J Teehankee, Atty. Allan G. Revote, and Atty. Jacinto D. Jimenez.

Speaking at the event were the Authors of the Special Issue who narrated excerpts of their respective Articles. Justice Jardeleza and Atty. Hilbay imparted key personal accounts of their roles in the historic arbitration. Undersecretary Teehankee discussed the possible impacts of the arbitral award in the country’s economic activities. Thereafter, an open forum was held where law students asked the speakers on the challenges facing the Philippines in enforcing the arbitral award.
